Reynaldo Leal
Public Affairs Specialist, U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs
Reynaldo Leal is a public affairs specialist with the Department of Veterans Affairs, in the Office of Digital Media Engagement, where he writes about the people the VA serves. He deployed twice to Iraq's Al Anbar Province with 3rd Battalion, 5th Marines, took part in the heaviest fighting of Operation Phantom Fury, and was awarded the Bronze Star with valor for Fallujah.
He came home, studied environmental science and mass communications at the University of Texas Rio Grande Valley on the GI Bill, and works now in South Texas, telling the stories of the community he is from rather than about it.
